From the terraces and garden you enjoy a magnificent panoramic view over the rolling landscape of the Haut-Var, with views towards the Massif des Maures and the Montagne Sainte-Victoire. At the same time, you can walk to the charming centre of Aups within a few minutes, known for its atmospheric squares, excellent restaurants and the famous Provençal market.

Marie-Marthe is located just 800 metres from the charming Provençal village of Aups, one of the most beautiful villages in the Haut-Var and known as the truffle capital of Provence.

Every Wednesday and Saturday, the village centre transforms into a lively Provençal market. Browse the colourful market stalls with fresh local produce, cheeses, olive oil, lavender products, clothing and other local specialities. Then take a seat on one of the many cosy terraces and enjoy the relaxed Provençal atmosphere.

In the immediate surroundings you will discover picturesque villages such as Villecroze, Salernes and Cotignac, beautiful walking routes, wine estates and the impressive Gorges du Verdon.

❤️ Why we are in love with Marie-Marthe

Some villas are beautiful, others have character. Marie-Marthe has both.

Upon entering, you feel the history of this special house. The imposing entrance, the thick natural stone walls, the original staircase and the beautiful marble floor are reminders of the time when this building held an important place in the village. Once, children from Aups received catechism lessons here. That rich history is still palpable, whilst the dwelling has been renovated with great taste and comfort at the same time.

But what really makes Marie-Marthe special for us is the combination of tranquillity and liveliness. From the garden you look out over the expansive Provençal landscape, whilst within a few minutes you can walk into the cosy centre of Aups.

Aups is such a village where you always enjoy coming back. Stroll through the narrow streets, admire the old fountains and enjoy a cup of coffee, a good glass of wine or a delicious Provençal lunch on one of the many terraces. On Wednesdays and Saturdays, the colourful markets create extra atmosphere, with stalls full of local products, delicacies, lavender, clothing and local crafts.

Precisely that combination of a characterful, stylishly renovated bastide, a stunning view, complete privacy and a lively Provençal village within walking distance made Marie-Marthe for us a villa we fell in love with immediately.
